Asem Al Jerjawi,
Writer and Journalist
Gaza, Palestine
"I have lost my home and I feel I may be losing my homeland too"

In times of forced displacement, and imposed starvation—as we are witnessing in Gaza—truth becomes a lifeline. The stories shared by those on the ground, such as journalists, photographers, and everyday people, often in real time and at great personal risk, are the last line of defence against erasure. These voices document the unspeakable. They preserve memory. They resist forgetting.
Our person of focus is 23-year old journalist Asem Al Jerjawi, based in Gaza. He has been accepted to study for his MA in several universities and has chosen University College Dublin. The university has waived his tuition, but he will need another 25,000 Euros for living expenses. Please help us get him set up in Ireland. We share with you some samples of his writing:
