CIE–Futures
CIE-Futures explores speculative design, cultural resilience, participatory future scenarios that reflect how emerging technologies are reshaping the way we understand, represent, and engage with cultural heritage. Through interdisciplinary innovation and future-oriented thinking, we aim to ensure that heritage is not only preserved, but continuously reinterpreted, revitalized, and projected into the shared futures we are all part of building. We use 3D scanning, immersive media, and digital archiving to record both tangible and intangible cultural expressions—ensuring that they remain accessible and meaningful across generations. But documentation is only the beginning. By embedding these materials in interactive, narrative-rich environments, we shift from passive preservation to active interpretation.
Innovation and (Re)Presentation
Bringing together expertise in filmmaking, new media, AI. computational design, and relating technologies, our work investigates the transformative potential of digital tools across disciplines. At our core lies a commitment to reimagining the relationship between heritage and society—through anticipatory thinking, technological exploration, and new narrative strategies.
We explore how innovation—when critically and creatively applied—can deepen cultural understanding and open new channels for expression and collaboration. Technologies such as spatial computing enable context-aware installations that respond to movement, proximity, and environmental input. Interactive platforms serve as frameworks for nonlinear narratives and participatory formats, allowing users to co-create meaning and navigate stories from diverse perspectives.
Site Specific Installations
A central element of this future-oriented approach is the creation of site-specific installations. These works integrate art, design, architecture, and research into immersive, location-aware experiences that are deeply attuned to the physical, historical, and cultural conditions of a given place. Whether situated in urban environments, natural landscapes, or gallery settings, each installation becomes a lens through which to reframe the role of heritage in shaping contemporary identity and imagining possible futures.
By drawing on technologies such as AR/VR, spatial computing, and sound spatialization, these installations offer multisensory access to cultural narratives—transforming observation into participation. In this way, they establish new, embodied ways of engaging with the cultural fabric of a site, inspiring audiences to reflect not only on where we come from, but also where we are going.
